19 June 2017 - AML Oceanographic Ltd. (AML) has purchased the global rights to the Moving Vessel Profiler (MVP) product line from Rolls-Royce Canada Ltd. Originally developed in Halifax by Brooke Ocean Technology (BOT) and later owned by Rolls-Royce, the MVP system is widely known as the industry standard in high speed, underway profiling.

“AML is delighted with this acquisition. Many MVP users are already AML customers and vice-versa.  The strategic fit is very tight; this purchase makes AML a provider of end-to-end vertical profiling solutions for our core hydrographic customers.  We look forward to breathing new life into the technology,” says AML CEO Robert Haydock.

Paul Shapleigh, General Manager of Naval Handling Products at Rolls-Royce Canada commented on the purchase, “Customer care is a top priority for Rolls-Royce. With their experienced MVP team, AML is the natural choice to take guardianship of the product, and we are confident that our customers and their MVP systems are in good hands.”

The MVP user base is distributed throughout Europe, Asia, North America, and South America. It includes such hydrographic thought leaders as the Canadian Hydrographic Service, the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVO), and NOAA.

AML owns the global rights to manufacture of new systems and support of the existing install base. MVP activities will be managed out of AML’s Dartmouth, Nova Scotia office.  AML’s Nova Scotia team already has extensive history with MVP systems, with more than 50 man years of design, manufacture, and support experience.
